Efforts are underway to rescue 40 workers stuck inside a partially collapsed tunnel in Uttarakhand
On Sunday morning at around 5 am, a tunnel on the Brhmakhal-Yamunotri National Highway in Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, partially collapsed, trapping 40 workers inside. The ongoing rescue operation involves teams from NDRF, SDRF, local police, and the Uttarakhand administration, all working tirelessly to ensure the safety of those trapped.
Fortunately, sources report that the trapped workers are safe and are being provided with essential supplies such as food and water. The tunnel, a crucial part of the Char Dham Road Project connecting Silkyara to Dandalgaon in Uttarkashi, is intended to shorten the journey from Uttarkashi to Yamunotri Dham by 26 kilometres.
The workers stuck inside hail from various states, including Uttarakhand, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and Himachal Pradesh, according to officials.
